One-Visit Crowns Can Often be Completed in an Hour

Should your treatment include CEREC Crowns, you can expect to have your crowns completed in a single day. If several crowns are needed, this may require two visits, but Dr. Files’ team will work to expedite your dental work and do all they can to minimize your visits and your associated downtime.

Prior to CEREC crowns, all completed crowns took at least two visits, with the first visit dedicated to preparing the tooth for the crown and making an impression or mold of the tooth. This impression was sent out to a lab where the crown was made using the impression or mold to create an exact replica.

Most dentists would place a temporary crown on the tooth so that while the actual crown is being made, the patient is not without coverage for the damaged tooth. The temporary crown was plastic and the permanent crown was made of porcelain.
